What is neurodivergent?

Neurodiversity is an umbrella term which captures a number of specific learning difficulties and developmental or acquired difficulties which have an impact on day to day life and performance at work.

Neurodiversity is the idea that everyone’s brain is unique and the way that people think varies naturally. Neurodivergent people often notice things that neurotypical people don’t. Employers who promote diversity in the workplace are more likely to access untapped talent pools. Neurodivergent employees will approach problems with a solution-based mindset, they can often see a clearer path from A to B.

These conditions can be found across the spectrum of intellectual ability and include: Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, DCD/dyspraxia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia. Neurodiversity coaching is a type of equality and diversity training that is designed to help understand and appreciate the differences in cognitive processing and neurodevelopmental conditions.

Why should my organisation be neurodivergent-aware?

Neurodivergent people have unique skills and abilities that can be extremely valuable in the workplace. However, they often struggle because many workplaces are not designed for them to perform at their best. This is often due to a lack of awareness of neurodiversity, and the ways in which neurodivergent people work differently.

Our training will help address this by raising awareness of neurodiversity and the often simple accommodations that can be made to help your employees thrive. We’ll help you to recognise and appreciate the different ways that neurodivergent people work, as well as provide the tools to understand how to make reasonable adjustments.
