Critical incident and trauma support in the workplace
What is trauma?
Trauma is an emotional response to a terrible event, whether experienced or witnessed.
Everyone will respond to trauma in their own way. Trauma can be caused by a critical incident or a major life event. This trauma can stay with you and affect all aspects of a person’s work and home life.
Trauma can be described as experiencing an event or multiple events which overwhelm your ability to cope. It comes in many forms; for example, the sudden death of a loved one, a distressing experience, or witnessing a shocking and upsetting event. Some traumatic events are sudden, giving no time to prepare emotionally.
Workplace trauma counselling can help your employees overcome traumatic events and regain control of their emotions.
Critical incident and workplace trauma counselling
When faced with a significant traumatic event many organisations do not have the tools or resources to deal with such a critical incident. This is where we can help. We offer workplace trauma counselling, consultancy, training and critical incident response services for organisations and individuals.
We understand every situation is unique and that every business needs a tailored response. We can help you manage trauma in the workplace whether it’s an individual employee or your business as a whole.
We provide post-trauma and psycho-education guidance to a broad range of organisations, as well as to the media. We also deliver managerial support for the cumulative stress or trauma often experienced within particular types of role or industry.
Working with trauma and critical incident clients
In addition to providing ‘on the ground’ support’, we also specialise in trauma risk management. Pinnacle’s CEO and founder, Richard Reid has worked extensively with City of London Police as a psychological trauma consultant and for the London Underground providing triage and treatment to those experiencing trauma as well as consulting on its company-wide disaster response policy. He also worked with with survivors of the London terror attacks.
Richard has assisted the National Crime Agency providing psychological assessments and therapy interventions for individuals assigned to the Witness Protection Programme and has acted as a mediator between Police Officers and perpetrators.
Richard is a specialist trauma risk management practitioner and EMDR trauma practitioner.
