How to make your confidence soar

Do you dread speaking in group discussions, or find that criticism leaves you feeling low?

Does your low-self esteem hold you back?

There are steps you can take to improve your confidence levels and turn these situations around.

How we feel about our ability to perform certain tasks or roles is not static. It changes on a day-to-day basis. Some days, our confidence soars and other times it hits the floor. This can have a big impact on our ability to do our jobs well and it may also affect our personal lives and relationships.

Whether it is, having the confidence to deliver that all-important presentation or being able to speak up when you have something to say, you can learn how to improve your confidence in order to address the issues that are causing this lack of confidence.

Confidence is a state of mind

There is no rulebook to help you learn how to become more confident. However, there are ways that you can improve your confidence levels.

Think positive

Confidence is all about the way you feel. So if you feel that you can’t complete a task or get promoted into a new role then the first step is to ask yourself why and then take the necessary steps to address it.

Feeling unprepared

If you are doing something for the first time, you may lack some of the knowledge needed to complete it correctly. There is a high probability that you will make a mistake and this can dent your confidence. It is important to understand what you need to do to deal with that mistake and turn it around.

This is where preparation is key. Instead of fearing the unknown, gain as much information as you can about the job at hand. This will make you better placed to be able to complete it. Do some research, ask others for help or advice, and learn from other people’s experience. This will give you the knowledge and insight to help solve any problems that could arise.

Believe in your own ability, skills, and experience

Positivity goes a long way. Understand your strengths and weaknesses; feel confident about the areas you know you excel in and develop the areas where you are weaker.

Confidence is contagious

When you are fully prepared for a situation and have the knowledge and the skills to do it well, you will radiate confidence. As a result of this, your charisma will soar (Link to charisma blog).

Having confidence, or the ability to appear confident is massively appealing. It can make other people feel more confident too.
